Song Lyrics
THAT THEY MAY BE ONE
The prayer for oneness was offered with passion,
Oneness of spirit and soul was the Lord’s vision.
This must be taught even as the Gospel is made known,
Those who believe must know that they are God’s own.
Chorus:
That they may be One,
As the Father and the Son.
The Spirit works deep within,
He cleanses us from all sin.
That they may be One,
Even as life’s race is run,
God’s mighty work will be done,
That they may be One.
Perfect oneness was the Lord’s glorious aim,
Not glory, nor riches, nor even a great name.
The world might yet believe when they see true love,
The fruit of the Spirit comes from heaven above.
Chorus
Bridge:
Oneness must be our goal in our Christian life,
There is so much pain and too much strife.
A prayer for oneness must be ever on our lips,
The church is blessed if this oneness it seeks.
Chorus:
That they may be One,
As the Father and the Son.
The Spirit works deep within,
He cleanses us from all sin.
That they may be One,
Even as life’s race is run,
God’s mighty work will be done,
That they may be One.
That they may be One
