Burdens make up so much a part of life, joy is missing in the heart,
So many problems to resolve, they threaten to tear the heart apart.
Jesus knew the sadness that prevailed in many a soul,
He came with salvation and blessing to make us whole.
He offered salvation full and free to all who would believe,
He promised such freedom that one would never need to grieve.
His word would bring cheer and comfort to the saddest soul,
What wondrous power He displayed as He made so many people whole!
There was one more gift He offered to those who serve with Him,
No matter how hard the ministry was, there was no need to be so grim.
The things that Jesus had spoken were meant to bring fullness of joy,
He cared that His disciples would not be burdened in His great employ.
His joy was meant to remain in the heart forever more,
No matter how noble the calling, nor how menial the chore.
They would have the same spirit of Joy that Jesus had,
This wonderful promise should make the heart so glad.
