The promises of God are truly deeply meaningful;
The promise of His presence is truly most wonderful.
“I will be with you” are words we must treasure;
These are words precious beyond measure.
The Lord’s promise is given to the Redeemed;
They are known to Him and they are esteemed.
He knows each one personally, even by name;
Not to respond appropriately would be a shame.
The troubles of life are like deadly flood-waters;
They threaten to overflow and the heart flutters;
The Lord’s promise must be brought to mind;
His power will protect us, His grace is sublime.
The trials of life are sometimes like flames of fire;
But they need not cause us to fear or to tire.
Nothing will harm us or bring about destruction;
The LORD will grant us His glorious protection.
